Mark Johnson  Piano 

Mark Johnson is an accomplished pianist and music educator with a diverse academic and professional background. A graduate of the University of Richmond in Virginia, Mark holds dual Bachelor of Applied Arts degrees in Leadership Studies and Music, earning recognition on the Richmond College Dean’s List. His commitment to excellence in both fields is further complemented by his education at Moorestown Friends School in New Jersey, where his foundational experiences shaped his academic and artistic path.

Mark’s professional journey reflects his versatility and dedication, with roles ranging from mentoring scholars with the Scholars Latino Initiative to serving as a Mission Advancement Team member at Virginia Supportive Housing. His ability to lead and communicate effectively has been evident in various positions, including Assistant to the CEO at The Verity Charitable Fund. As a freelance musician and pianist for The Mirrors Band, Mark brings creativity and adaptability to every performance, showcasing leadership and teamwork in high-pressure settings. These roles highlight his balance of artistic passion and operational proficiency, making him a valuable educator and performer.

As a piano teacher since 2023, Mark has designed and implemented personalized lesson plans tailored to students’ creative goals. His tenure as the First Pianist with the University of Richmond Jazz Ensemble demonstrates his leadership and collaborative spirit in musical direction. Beyond his teaching and performing roles, Mark has fostered critical thinking and inquiry as a scholar of the Gary L. McDowell Institute. His multi-faceted experiences, coupled with his Eagle Scout dedication to service, underscore his commitment to empowering others through music and leadership.
