BLACK LIVES MATTER

We, the Board members of West Jersey Music Academy, have heard the people’s demand for social justice and eradicating racial inequalities in our country. As we know, health, economic, and educational disparities are interwoven and have penetrated America’s social systems for centuries.

Therefore, we stand with the Black Lives Matter movement and all groups that aim to impact social reform to address these devastating issues. We believe that our mission and vision are committed to Diversity and Inclusion and are fundamental tools for social change and equality for everyone.

West Jersey Music Academy has and will continue to have a diverse Board of Directors and teaching staff to ensure that the decisions we make and the services we provide, will have the most significant impact on our entire community. We are committed to Diversity, regardless of socioeconomic or racial status, and participate as agents of change that we desire.

WJMA will continue to provide excellence in music instruction to diverse audiences in Southern New Jersey by teaching enhanced music instruction, in an encouraging environment, to include a varied selection of musical genres to engage everyone. The academy aims to create a passion for musical arts for all, including youth, adults, the elderly, and individuals with special needs.

LGBTQ+

In June 2020, the US Supreme Court ruled that LGBTQ discrimination in employment violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 on the basis of sex, and struck down arbitrary government actions to end existing programs signed into law that allow young immigrants to live and work without fear of deportation.

WJMA applauds these historic decisions and reaffirms its stance supporting equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion of all people in its mission to bring music instruction and performance to all people. The school is committed to ensuring equal opportunity for its employees, staff and the students we serve.

West Jersey Music Academy supports a safe music education environment for all people. All individuals regardless of their national origin, citizenship/resident status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or LGBTQ self designation, are welcome to participate in all WJMA programs in a safe and inclusive environment.
